About this dataset

Consumer-product safety monitoring built on the FDA's official openFDA enforcement API. Covers all three human-health recall endpoints — food, drug, and medical device — with recall classification (Class I/II/III), recalling firm, product description, reason for recall, distribution pattern, and recall status. New enforcement records arrive in openFDA's weekly batch load (normally Wednesdays, occasionally delayed one to two weeks); existing recalls transition Ongoing -> Terminated, and those status changes are tracked as updates. Every corpus snapshot is anchored on-chain, so freshness is independently verifiable.

How to buy a query

Query 'newest' for the latest recalls across food/drug/device; 'class 1' or 'Class I' for the most severe recalls (reasonable probability of serious health consequences); 'summary' for corpus counts by endpoint, classification and status. Records update when FDA changes classification or terminates a recall.
