Commerce (NASDAQ: CMRC), the parent of BigCommerce and Feedonomics, announced two enrichment products that convert merchant catalogs into structured, machine-readable product data. The core argument: if an answer engine or shopping agent cannot parse your product, it will not surface it, so catalog quality now decides which sellers agents can buy from.
Highlights#
- Feedonomics Enrichment targets enterprise and multichannel brands. It generates titles, descriptions, feature bullets, FAQs and SEO metadata, plus the structured facts, snippets and question-and-answer fields that generative surfaces use to interpret a product. Content maps to a brand's own taxonomy and to the field requirements of destinations including Google, Meta, Amazon and eBay, as well as agent surfaces like Gemini, ChatGPT and Copilot.
- BigCommerce Catalog Enrichment is built directly into the store control panel. Merchants pick products, supply brand inputs, and apply generated content across thousands of SKUs in a single click, with no CSV export to an outside tool. A proprietary scorecard grades accuracy, consistency and brand voice before anything goes live.
- Feedonomics Enrichment ships in self-managed and managed-service models, with a merchant-facing quality scorecard, an explainable issue list, and analytics that tie enriched records to onsite traffic and paid media performance. A conversational reporting agent for exploring those insights is planned. English content generation is live now, with more languages coming.
- Sharon Gee, senior vice president of product for AI at Commerce, framed the agentic-era requirement in four parts: be discoverable by agents, put agents to work running the business, convert inside the conversation, and build on open standards to avoid lock-in. The company says merchants keep their first-party data and customer relationships throughout.
Why it matters#
Agent-ready commerce is usually framed as a payments problem, but agents cannot buy what they cannot parse. Structured catalog data is the supply side of agent-to-agent commerce, and enrichment of this kind widens the set of merchants whose offers can enter automated discovery and negotiation flows at all.
