Juspay, a payments technology company, has launched Breeze Universal, a global pilot that makes merchant catalogs discoverable inside AI shopping surfaces. Announced September 2, the offering plugs existing online stores into ChatGPT, Claude, and merchants' own first-party apps and websites, without a bespoke integration for each platform.
Highlights#
- Breeze Universal connects to existing stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and custom builds, then makes those product catalogs available across the surfaces where customers now shop, from AI platforms to mobile apps and websites.
- Shoppers can invoke @breeze inside ChatGPT to search, compare, and get recommendations across participating brands in a single conversation. Juspay's examples include gift ideas and skincare picks under a set budget, priced in rupees.
- The platform is built on Google's Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), so brands that join arrive aligned with an emerging AI commerce standard from day one instead of a proprietary format.
- Beyond discovery, brands can publish their own @brand app inside ChatGPT or launch an AI-powered storefront with one search bar over the whole catalog, using drop-in components, a headless kit, or APIs. Banks, fintechs, marketplaces, and merchants are the stated target users.
- COO and co-founder Sheetal Lalwani framed the shift plainly: consumers increasingly treat discovery and payments as one continuous experience, and merchants need foundations that prepare them for agent-led commerce.
Why it matters#
Agent-mediated shopping collapses discovery and checkout into one flow, and the shared layer that feeds catalogs to AI platforms becomes a new distribution chokepoint. Juspay betting on an open protocol rather than a walled garden mirrors the core bet of agent-to-agent commerce: autonomous transactions need interoperable rails, verifiable identity, and reliable settlement more than they need another closed marketplace.
