At Global Fintech Fest 2026, L&T Finance announced a partnership with Pine Labs to embed an Agentic Storefront in its PLANET app. The debut use case is autonomous flight booking: a customer states intent and sets guardrails, and a buyer agent finds a real flight and pays for it over UPI, end to end. A mainstream non-bank lender moving agents from chat to transaction execution is a clear signal of where the market is heading.

The integration pairs two Pine Labs layers. P3P, the Pine Labs Payments Protocol, handles the payment itself, settling through UPI inside the PLANET app. Grantex sits above it as an authorization delegation and compliance layer, providing verifiable identity, spend controls, and auditability for every agent action.
The design is explicitly two-sided. A buyer agent acts for the customer within user-defined guardrails. On the merchant side, a seller agent connects to airline systems for live availability, fares, and booking data, so the options it returns can actually be fulfilled. Pine Labs CTO Sanjeev Kumar described P3P and Grantex as trust infrastructure that lets buyer and seller agents transact securely and autonomously.
L&T Finance plans to extend the architecture beyond travel to more merchant categories. Manish Kumar Gupta, who leads payments and digital partnerships at the lender, called the shift a move from conversational assistance to true transaction execution, built on agents that operate inside user-defined guardrails.
Why it matters#
The reference stack here is familiar: delegated authorization, scoped spend limits, verifiable identity, and an audit trail. Those are the same primitives escrow and reputation rails supply for agent-to-agent settlement. UPI gives the rollout a real-time payment backbone, and a governed framework beats wallet-per-agent improvisation for trust at scale.
